Palm Forest work hard to make sure their impact on the environment is minimal.

The retreat employs staff from the community wherever possible, uses local building materials, and supports the area’s farmers and markets by buying all their produce locally, too. As well as organically grown food being good for you, sourcing things locally lowers the retreat’s ecological footprint – so it’s good for the planet, too.

The retreat is plastic straw-free – and they also provide guests with reusable bags to take shopping at the local market, to reduce the use of plastic bags. There are no plastic bottles on-site, with only glass bottles used in the bar – and guests are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles to fill with free mineral water, available throughout the hotel.

Palm Resort go through a lot of coconuts, so they’re sure to use the whole fruit – even drying the coconut shells to use as a natural mosquito repellant.
