BAMBOO HUT

Your ultimate glamping experience.

Talalla’s Bamboo Huts are a glamping experience like no other. There’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, and no fire to build; just the sound of the waves, and a deeper connection with nature to enjoy. Beautifully designed with luxury in mind, the Bamboo Huts are a mark of Talalla’s achievement as Sri Lanka’s leading Eco-Hotel experience.

SEAVIEW VILLAS

Start your day off with a stunning sea view.

Nestled on the forefront of the grounds is Talalla Retreat’s latest addition; the Sea View Villas. Here, you’ll wake up each morning to panoramic views of tropical gardens and blue waters. Located just meters from the beach, the ground-floor villas are air-conditioned, and feature authentic Sri Lankan furniture and fabrics. The second-floor open-air pavilions have a private balcony, reading desk, and ceiling fan - while the top floor is home to the Luxury Sea View Villa, Talalla’s most high-end accommodation option. All villas have open-air bathrooms, with natural light, and gorgeous views of the coconut palms.

Gentle on the body, and the environment.

While staying at Talalla Retreat, you’ll dine at their signature restaurant – a stunning open-air pavilion, where only the best local and seasonal produce is served.

Talalla are proud of their low-mileage approach to food, sourcing local ingredients and produce from nearby markets and fishing villages. The retreat grows their own organic herbs and spices, and sources other fresh ingredients daily from local markets and fishermen.

The menu is brimming with traditional Sri Lankan delicacies, and favourites from around the world – dishes like fresh fish tacos, mahi mahi burgers, and island style fried rice. So take a seat just steps from the ocean, and enjoy the gentle sea breeze, while you tuck into a delicious meal – fresh from Talalla’s kitchen.

Welcome to Talalla Beach, Sri Lanka

On the southern tip of Sri Lanka, near the city of Matara, you’ll find one of Sri Lanka’s most peaceful and secluded bays; Talalla Beach. It’s here that Talalla Retreat has made its home, tucked into the corner of the bay, surrounded by its clear blue waters and golden sands.

Wake up to a warm breeze and the sound of ocean waves, then spend your days making the most of the outstanding facilities; world-class yoga teachers, well-appointed rooms, excellent food, fresh juices, and swimming pool. Or explore the nearby village of Gandara, and discover its pristine gardens, well-preserved Dutch forts, and temple built by ancient kings. At Talalla, there’s something beautiful to discover with each new day.

Respect for the environment, and respect for the community.

Talalla Retreat believes a respect for both the natural environment, and the local culture, is the key to maintaining a harmonious space. That’s why they work hard to make sure their environmental footprint is minimal, and their connection to the community is strong.

The retreat grows its own organic vegetables and herbs, has a healthy composting system for kitchen waste, and generates its own electricity through solar panels. They also source any supplies and building materials needed from the local area, and employ at least 10% of the community as full-time staff.

Following the devastating 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, Talalla’s directors set up the Talalla Support Group – an initiative that helped hundreds of families find much-needed relief, support, and hope.
