Food and drink are a highlight of staying at Tri, and as organic and seasonal as it gets. The world-class chef is an expert in fresh Sri Lankan fusion: contemporary, creative dishes that are as delicious as they are nutritious.
Start your day with fresh exotic fruit, hoppers with kata sambal, or eggs benedict with smoked mahi mahi. Enjoy a nutritious smoothie or light snack by the pool, or in your villa. And later, choose from the restaurant’s ever-changing fusion menu; from kurrakan roti and cashew nut butter, to cinnamon quail – lagoon crab curry, to smoked wattalapam panna cotta.
Enjoy taking your meals under the resort’s ancient banyan tree, at the top of the Water Tower, or by the lake’s edge – with every setting just as extraordinary as the food.
Create more, consume less, and always look to nature.
That’s the overarching philosophy at Tri. The resort is absolutely committed to looking after the unique environment it calls home, and this commitment is brought to life throughout the estate.
The resort has a focus on living design, with plenty of living walls and roofs planted with native creepers, water grass, and dwarf bamboo. Water gardens and rainwater channelling have been worked into the design, to help minimise erosion. Rainwater is also harvested to nourish the grounds, and the resort grows as much of its own produce as possible.
Guided by local green consultancy Carbon Consulting Company, Tri’s mission is to reduce its carbon footprint every single year. They carefully monitor their water and electricity consumption, using solar PV panels to harvest natural power, and minimising use through the latest appliance inverter technology and LED lighting.
Windows, doors, and flooring have all been made from 100% recycled local jak wood, with a majority of the resort’s natural materials sourced locally, too.
Tri is also committed to reversing habitat degradation, and increasing the area’s flora and fauna. They’re busy planting indigenous trees and bushes, and tackling lake-shore erosion through a shoreline protection programme.
Welcome to Koggala Lake, Sri Lanka.
Arrive at Koggala Lake, and you’ll feel like you’re the very first to discover its lush green shores. Set right beside the water, Tri is just a tuk-tuk ride away from Galle Fort – the perfect base for exploring southern Sri Lanka.
The landscape and nature of this magical place is reflected in almost every aspect of Tri’s unique design. From the buildings’ spiral layout echoing the unfurling of a plant, through to the local materials complimenting the landscape, the resort has been guided by nature in every way.
Thoughtfully designed, with sustainability in mind, Tri is an oasis of living walls, green roofs, solar arrays, and edible gardens.
Whether visiting the Water Tower’s dramatic 360° viewing deck, or relaxing in the Main House’s multi-tiered living space – wherever you go at Tri, a sense of peace and tranquillity is sure to keep you company.
